Miura Spotlight Series: David Vrana
Name: David Vrana
Location: Ridgewood, New Jersey
Miura Start Date: 2011
David Vrana has been an integral part of the Miura team for more than 12 years, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to his role. With a degree in Mechanical Engineering, David has a unique expertise that sets him apart from others in manufacturing sales.
David’s journey began in the winter of 2009 when he embarked on a college internship with Covanta Energy at their waste-to-energy facility in Rahway, New Jersey. While most students were on vacation, David was immersing himself in hands-on work. During a planned outage in their five-story steam plant, he actively contributed to the conversion of a classic digital control system to a new PC-based system. Reflecting on those early days of his career in the boiler industry, David recalls the satisfaction he derived from getting his hands dirty and making a meaningful impact.
In the beginning of 2011, Miura recognized David’s potential and extended an invitation for an interview. The Vice President conducting the interview saw something exceptional in him and offered him a Sales Engineer position. From that point onward, David’s journey at Miura unfolded with remarkable success. Over the past decade, he has guided numerous companies through complex and large-scale capital steam projects, steadily ascending to Eastern Division Manager, National Manager of Customer Experience & Rep Engagement, and Senior Regional Sales Manager.
“I have a degree in mechanical engineering and the experience of a sales professional, which allows me to tackle nearly any challenge,” David says.
The tenure he has spent at Miura, coupled with his engineering background, grants David a deep understanding of the steam industry. “The core principles I learned were math and science based, which helps me navigate technical specifications and make informed choices regarding equipment and material selection. I enjoy designing state-of-the-art boiler plants that fulfill all our customers’ needs while staying within their budget,” David explains.
Favorite Project: Looking back to 2015, David is most proud of the 120,000 #/hr steam plant that he helped design for the largest Expandable Polystyrene manufacture in America. He also enjoys working with breweries for fun, and with hospitals because of the nature of what they do, saving lives. Safe, reliable steam is an important part of any operation, but especially the healthcare industry and David finds that rewarding.
Personal Hobbies: When David’s not helping companies develop steam solutions, he is hiking and traveling. He is always scouting out that next fun road trip to take.
